Beginning in the Summer of 2009, I began volunteering (for one day a week) as a Community bicycle mechanic for Bristol Bike Project (BBP) and by 2017 my previous career as a design consultant felt well and truly over, so finally in the Summer of 2017, I was asked to join the team, working on the Community side of the project. That began a happy working relationship that came to an abrupt end in March 2020, when the Covid Pandemic brought all my Community work to a sudden halt.
As Bicycle Mechanics could still operate during the first Covid -19 lockdown, i decided (in May 2020) to launch my own independent bicycle service & repairs business and called it iLovesMyBike, which i first heard on a bus in Bedminster, when i first moved to Bristol from London in 2007. I thought iLovesMyBike was simply a brilliant name for a bicycle business!
Since then, i have served hundreds of iLMB customers and constantly acquire new technical knowledge. I have also continued to teach basic bike maintenance skills in various settings, which i excelled at, in my previous teaching basic bike mechanics role at Bristol Bike Project.
i still find it very rewarding to teach people new experiential skills and to witness the transformational impact on an individual or group, who leaves the session feeling empowered. As James Lucas (a friend and Founder of BBP) used to quote "Tell me and I will forget, show me and I may remember; involve me and I will understand." which is the core teaching philosophy at Bristol Bike Project, which I adopted myself well before iLovesMyBike, but continues to this day.
Working with Customers through iLovesMyBike, i have gained a word-of-mouth reputation in Bristol for delivering consistent 5 Star Service Quality, amongst the diverse cycling Community i serve and i will always strive to deliver the highest standard of bicycle maintenance and use my excellent communication skills to provide *an excellent customer experience throughout the end-to-end Customer Journey.
