The Full Service (Summary).

Cleaning and fully checking your Brompton for component wear, removing and inspecting the wheels and drivetrain and checking all the nuts, bolts , bearings and proprietary components, before advising you if any parts need replacing during your Service Period.

The Full Service (Schedule).

The Full Service Schedule on your Brompton combines my 3hr Secondary Care Service and adds an extra 1hr to cover wear checks and lubrication to:

Brompton's proprietary components and folding system

Main frame hinge
Seat sleeve
Stem hinge
Rear frame pivot
Suspension block
Folding alignment
Hinge clamp

Service Quality Control

Fold/unfold operation check.
Local test ride shifting and braking performance check.
Written service feedback and advisories will be on your invoice.

Note: Brompton's will be assessed individually and a written quote for new parts will be produced as part of the Service Schedule, This quote may additionally include researching, ordering and labour to fit any additional accessories or upgrades to your Brompton that you may want during your Service Period?

The written quotation will be sent to you via Whatsapp (or email) for approval, before any work can begin.

Note:

New parts are not included in the service price, but labour does include fitting common new parts, such as chains and brake pads and cassettes.
Any new parts to be fitted must be paid for in advance of your service period.
All Full Service work is subject to your existing components being in a serviceable condition.

Brompton S-Type case study.

A customer problem with a Brompton S-Type (Pre-2017) Laura presented her older 6 speed Brompton, which had been purchased second hand. i noticed it had a Sachs 3-speed hub fitted to the rear wheel. The 13/15T gear sprockets were very worn and the chain was was slipping over these gears on every Bristol hill she encountered and a standard 50T Brompton chainring wasn't helping make things easier either! A local Brompton dealership had tried to sell Laura a whole new rear wheel, which she considered a rather costly solution to a mechanical problem.

i solved the root cause of the problem creatively and at a lower cost. As proprietary Brompton gear sprocket-set upgrades (13 & 15T) were discontinued for the Sachs 3 speed hub gear, i researched and implemented a very effective solution, which resulted in 'easier' (lower-ratio) gearing on the older 6 speed Brompton.

i sourced new parts from a local supplier and fitted new 13 &16T Sturmey Archer sprockets (with a thin Shimano spacer) and a new Brompton 44T spider-type crankset and bottom bracket, so the chainring could be replaced economically, when worn out.

Laura was delighted to ride away on her refurbished wide-ratio 6 Speed Brompton, which was now much more joyful to ride, with 'easier' gears.
