How frequently you need to get your bike serviced really depends on how often you ride it and in what conditions.
All bikes really need regular checks and cleaning by their owner to keep them running optimally, but in addition, a regular Full Service by an experienced mechanic is essential to ensure the longevity, performance, and roadworthiness of your bike.
A bike that receives regular servicing, benefits from the lubrication of moving parts, mechanical adjustments and the timely replacement of worn out, (relatively) low-cost components - such as the chain, brake pads and bearings.
Without preventative maintenance, wear will spread to the more expensive components, such as the cassette, chainrings, hubs and brake rotors, significantly increasing your repair costs in the longer term.
If in any doubt, get in touch and send me some images, i can recommend which level of service will match the current condition of your bike.
In summary, a clean and well-maintained bike is a joy to ride, making it likely to be ridden more often, leading to increased physical and mental health benefits and helping to create a cleaner environment.
